Disinformation:  The 9th Grade History Textbook has David-Gareja on Azerbaijani Territory

Verdict:  FAKE NEWS

Article:

Some Facebook pages are circulating a fabricated photograph (link 1, link 2, link 3 and link 4). The photograph has a caption saying that the 9th grade history textbook states that David Gareja is on Azerbaijani territory.

On the photograph published by those Facebook pages, it is discernible that the textbook belongs to  the Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House. FactCheck contacted the publishing house to verify the aforementioned information. The publishing house replied that the information is fake news and visual manipulation since it has never printed such a textbook. The 9th grade Georgian history textbook approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia looks like this.

The 9th grade history textbook, published by the Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House and currently used by schools, does not even include photographs of the David-Gareja Monastery Complex.

Therefore, the claim that David-Gareja is located on Azerbaijani territory in the 9th grade Georgian history textbook is FAKE NEWS.
