Fake News: Kadyrov will Bury Aliyev With His Own Hands in Shushi

Verdict – Fake News

The alleged appeal of the Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is actively spreading on Facebook. The post mentions that Kadyrov accuses Aliyev of making an anti-Russian move by taking the Turkish president to Shushi. As a consequence of this action, Kadyrov promises to bury Aliyev in Shushi with his own hands. This information does not correspond to reality, neither verbally nor in written form, has Kadyrov made such a statement.

On June 15, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met in Shushi, after which they signed a declaration to strengthen relations between their countries, including an agreement to provide mutual military assistance.

On June 17, clickbait sites and Facebook pages started sharing information that Ramzan Kadirov perceived the meeting between Aliyev and Erdoğan as an insult directed at the Russian president Vladimir Putin and that Chechen leader wrote in the social media that he is going to bury Aliyev in Shushi. This news was published on clickbait sites and spread on Facebook. The information was, however, false.

Kadyrov has not made such a post on any of the social media platforms. The Head of the Chechen Republic is most active on Telegram, where, on his page, there are no posts that contain the word Shushi. Moreover, the last time Kadyrov wrote anything about the Armenian-Azerbaijani or the Artsakh-Azerbaijani conflict on his Telegram was on November 11, 2020. In that post, Kadyrov expressed his satisfaction with the opposing sides having seized the armed conflict and highlighted the significant role Vladimir Putin played in the process.

We were unable to find such a post neither on Instagram nor on Vk. Besides, this information was not published by any reliable media or other sources.
